What sleep disorders can be found on home sleep testing?
Home sleep testing, unlike laboratory testing, is limited by the portability and the need for easy self-application of the equipment. Therefore, it is usually limited only to screening for obstructive sleep apnea. However, as the equipment becomes more sophisticated, it may also be used to aid in the diagnosis of circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia and in the detection of some movement disorders.
What are the types of home sleep testing?
There are two basic types of home sleep tests, one which measure airflow and/or respiratory effort and the other which measures sympathetic tone. Leads may be placed on the head, chest, or wrist for monitoring during sleep.
